Mothers' Union

Taney Mothers’ Union is part of a worldwide charitable movement which provides practical, sustainable aid to women in communities with deprivation. Our own branch does this through our Mothers’ Union Overseas Fund, while also holding friendly, sociable, informative and fun evenings from October to May, usually on the second Tuesday of each month at around 8pm. At our Open Meetings, we welcome parishioners and friends regardless of parental status, age and gender (husbands and partners often come), so if you see anything in our programme that interests you, do come along.

Update September 2023

Taney Mothers’ Union branch reconvenes on Tuesday 12th September 2023 at 8.15pm in the Minor Hall of the Parish Centre. Our first meeting will be a ‘welcome back’ meeting for members, with our usual annual Bring & Buy sale (all donations welcome) and a short AGM, followed by tea and coffee and some tasty goodies.

Also that week, on Thursday 14th September, is a Diocesan MU service at 7.30pm in Malahide church. If you would like to attend this, with perhaps a meal in Malahide beforehand, please talk to one of the committee.

On 10th October, Victoria Jones, a physiotherapist at Tallaght Hospital, will speak on ‘Active Aging’ at 8.15pm. This is an open meeting.

Also, on 14th November, Rev. Paul Arbuthnot, Rector of St. Anne’s Parish will speak on ‘Serving in Westminster Abbey’. This is another open meeting. At our open meetings, all parishioners and friends are welcome, irrespective of age, gender or other factors. We love to see new faces.

If you would like to become a member, we will be even more delighted! We have afternoon gatherings planned for January and March 2024, and we will tell you about those in the next edition of Taney News.

A note for our current members: Carol Robinson Tweed is taking a break from the committee, but will continue as publicity person. We are delighted that Hilary Graves has joined as a new committee member.
