This summer the Scouts and Ventures had an exciting and challenging Summer Camp in Great Tower Scout Adventure Centre in the Lake District where they participated in a range of activities including Raft Building, Bridge Building, Caving, Ghyll Scrambling, Kayaking, Crate Staking, Hiking Bouldering and Fire lighting. The Scouts on camp were facilitated by a number of young volunteers from countries including: Argentina, Brazil, Mexico South Africa, Honduras, Germany, Ghana and of course the UK. These volunteers were spending a year at the Great Tower Campsite where they received training on leading outdoor pursuits and were assisting with the many activities provided on site. This was a fantastic opportunity for our Scouts to learn about other cultures and scouting traditions and our Scouts developed a real fondness and appreciation for the volunteers.
Scouts (12-15 years) and Ventures (15 – 18 years) meet on Friday nights in Taney Parish Hall from 8.00pm – 10.00pm
and participate in a range of outdoor activities including camping, kayaking, hiking, pioneering, rock climbing, raft building and mountain biking at different times throughout the year. If you would like to join us, please come along on Friday, 7th September and give it a try. We are also always on the lookout for energetic and enthusiastic leaders who love the outdoors and would like to become leaders. Full training is available.
